Patty's Quilt

Patty's Quilt
New Design

We are more than half way through the year and have made very little progress on Patty's 50th birthday quilt. I can only speak for myself but I think we are all intimidated by the design we choose. I love the design and can picture it in the beautiful batiks that we have collected, but I can't seem to get from the thinking phase to the doing phase.

Please see a couple of alternative designs for Patty's Quilt shown below. The 3 designs are bascially the same with finished blocks set in either a random pattern or a more controlled layout. The blocks are the curved blocks from the original pattern. We won't have to attempt the more challenging blocks with spikes. What gives it movement is setting the blocks on point - a new technique for us so we can continue to learn and hone our skills.

If we use the freehand cutting method that we experimented with in Marcellus over the 4th of July we can make 2 blocks at a time. We'll talk about that method at the beach Marty! Each of us will have to make 15 - 16 blocks.

So what does everyone think? And how can we incorporate the shamrock?
